About LeafLee
When I have to describe my art form the only universal theme is chaos. I try to control the chaos to an extent, but work mostly intuitively; taking turns when necessary to let the chaos control me in return. Randomness can be considered a pattern. That is how I work, erratically assembling to create an attention-grabbing piece. Creation is the way I learn and understand the world around me. It pieces together the chaos and confusion into a tangible medium. That is also what I am trying to be, a medium between the unknown and the obvious. The subject of my artistic obsession gravitates to the manipulation of linear lines in three-dimensional space. This may materialize as anything from geometric forms or webs, to ideas of the fabric of space and dimensions.
My main material so far is indisputably yarn. Much of my focus has become the exploration of my fixation with the treatment of space. The process is always rapturous and mesmerizing for me, no matter the final intent. I implore any and all methods of string exploitation including time, ceramic and knitting processes, existing architecture, color and spatial relationships. The work can function atmospherically, conceptually, and figuratively. I like to think nothing is unachievable in the mysteries of reality. It is possible to find something that is serene yet weird and bizarre; calming, extraordinary, and perhaps exhilarating. I am hunting for the De Facto of spatial dimensions through line. I am an artist. This is the axiom of my life.
